Instruction Focus: Hitting and Fielding

Derrick graduated from Skyline High School in 1993. He then played first base and outfield for Laney Junior College in 94 and 95. After 2 years at Laney, Derrick was given a scholarship to play for Fresno State University. At Fresno he won the Harold Haak Scholar Athlete Award and voted West Regional All-Tourney in 97. Derrick finished up his playing career playing in the Frontier League for the Evansville Otters.
